On October 17, 2020 around 10th Avenue South and 4th Place South in Phenix City, Alabama, a shooting occurred. Lamar Whittaker, 35 years of age, had stopped to assist a stranded motorist and was working on the vehicle when shots rang out. Police found Whittaker shot and killed laying against the curb next to the broken-down vehicle.
Investigators believe that Mr. Whittaker was not the intended target.
Lamar Whittaker, also known as Dontaye, leaves behind a son and an extended sports family.

The Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office has officially notified CrimeStoppers of receiving information that has identified two suspects wanted for Burglary and Theft of Property.
Tallapoosa County Investigators advise that two suspects have been identified using information from a community tip. The tipster advised that after seeing a CrimeStoppers segment in the Tallassee Times they notified police of the identity of two suspects involved in the Yakes Lake burglary.
Investigators have obtained warrants on both suspects. MacKinley Cade Moore was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody on September 29, 2021 in Notasulga, AL.
Donald Mark George is still at large.

Tallapoosa County Investigators need your help with a Burglary and Theft Investigation. The crime occurred on September 23, 2021 on or about 12:00 noon. Investigators released game camera photos of one of the suspects and also pictures of a black vehicle, possibly a Lexus IS300, that was observed at another residence on or about 12:32 pm.
Two individuals get out of the vehicle and walk around the victim’s property. They steal unspecified items from the property.

Dadeville Investigators advise that a stolen 2006 Kenworth Semi-Truck, stolen from their jurisdiction, has been recovered in Montgomery, Alabama. The Semi-Truck was found abandoned, so the suspects are still at large.
Dadeville Police continue their search for the thieves and a 48ft flatbed trailer license plate 31TR645B loaded with lumber, that was stolen in Alexander City using the stolen Semi-Truck.

On 09/17/2021 some unknown subject(s) stole a 2006 Kenworth Semi-Truck within the city limits of Dadeville, AL. CLT decals are located on the doors and the number 13 on both sides of the hood. No license plate on the truck.
After the Semi-Truck was stolen in Dadeville, the offenders went to Alexander City and stole a 48ft flatbed loaded with lumber. Stolen trailer license plate is 31TR645B.

The Oxford Police Department is investigating an armed robbery of a convenience store that occurred in the Eastaboga community.
The Robbery occurred on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 4:15 a.m. at the Samco Convenience Store located in the 9000 block of U.S. 78 in Eastaboga, AL. Investigators advise that no injuries occurred, but the perpetrator did fire a shot during the robbery.
The East Metro Area Crime Center has released photos of the suspect and the vehicle he used after the robbery.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is searching for any subject involved in Shooting A Firearm Into An Occupied Dwelling.
On 9/14/2021, between the times of 8:45 pm and 8:55 pm, unknown suspects did discharge a firearm into an occupied dwelling in the 80 Block of Quail Ridge Drive in the Valley Grande area of Dallas County.
Investigators released video of the suspect's vehicle that was captured on a home security camera in the area moments before the shooting. The victim's home was shot into a total of 8 times.
Due to the severity of the offense, CrimeStoppers is offering a reward starting at $1,000 for any information that leads to the identity and arrests of any subject involved with this crime.

Autauga County Sheriff’s Investigators were able to quickly identify 3 adult males with the aid of a Prattville Police Officer and CrimeStopper anonymous tips. Arrests were made on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 by the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office. The following individuals were identified and charged with 2 counts of Burglary 3rd Degree:
19-year-old Verbena resident Tobias Lamar Walton
19-year-old Verbena resident Xavier Lashawn Quince
18-year-old Prattville resident Kyllar Dwayne Deason.
Each are being held in the Autauga County Metro Jail under a $30K bond. Criminal Mischief charges are pending.

The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two subjects and an accomplice wanted for two counts of Burglary and Felony Criminal Mischief.
The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to identify two armed suspects and one accomplice involved in Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (Felony charges) of the HWY 82 Market and Deli located at 1958 Hwy 82 W, Prattville, AL 36067 and Posey Crossroad Convenient Store at 2001 County Road 57, Prattville, AL 36067. On 09/12/2021 between the late evening hours of 10 and 11pm, two unknown suspects along with an accomplice driver attempted to burglarize the two Autauga county businesses causing significant damage to both stores.
The two suspects and accomplice were driving a silver four door sedan and was last seen headed north on County Road 57.

The family of a Crenshaw County man continue their search for answers 5 years after his death. Edwin Earl Cosby was murdered in June 2016.
On June 14, 2016, 78-year-old Edwin Earl Cosby was found deceased at his body shop located at 237 N. Jackson Avenue in Rutledge, AL. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Mr. Cosby was murdered. Mr. Cosby was last seen alive Monday afternoon around 3:30 pm at a store in town. His son, Brent Cosby, found his body around 7:30 pm Monday night in his office.
A reward of $15,000 is being offered for the arrest and conviction of all persons responsible for the death of Edwin Earl Cosby. The Cosby Family is offering $5,000 and the State of Alabama’s Governor Kay Ivey signed a proclamation on May 19, 2017 offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) found guilty of his death. Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering a $5,0000 reward to be paid within 30 days of arrest.

The Jacksonville Police Department has officially notified CrimeStoppers that wanted Fraud Suspect Faizon Omere Davis has been taken into custody. Davis is no longer wanted by Law Enforcement.
Faizon Omere Davis contacted Jacksonville Police Investigators to inquire about the criminal charges that had been posted in a CrimeStoppers segment. Davis turned himself in at the Jacksonville Police Department where he was processed. CrimeStoppers was notified of his arrest on September 1, 2021. No other details were released.

Faizon Omere Davis is described as a 23-year-old black male, 5’9” in height and weighing approximately 160 pounds. His last known address was in Pleasant Grove, Alabama.

Over the last few months, the Jacksonville Police Department has received several reports of Theft/Fraud cases, occurring at a local Bank located in the 1500 block of Pelham Road S in Jacksonville, AL. Through video and witness statements obtained, it is believed that the same suspect is responsible for multiple cases of Theft and Fraud.

The first incident involved an unknown suspect approaching the victim at the ATM drive thru. The suspect asked the victim to deposit a Money Gram in the amount of $400.00 to their account, and in return give him $400.00 cash. The victim allows the suspect to do so and eventually determines that the Money Gram is fraudulent at a later time. The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 20 years old, 5’9” and 175 lbs, with hair twisted in rolls.

The second victim reported that she was approached by a young black male at the drive thru ATM, requesting she deposit a $400.00 Money Gram and give him the cash. The victim moved to the walk-up ATM and allowed him to deposit the Money Gram and then provided him with $400.00 cash. The victim advised a few days later she checked her account and realized the Money Gram had been returned unpaid.

The victim from the third incident explained that a young black male approached him at the ATM and asked if he could cash a Money Gram for him in the amount of $400.00. The victim stated the suspect told him he did not have an I.D., so he was unable to cash it. The victim proceeded to let the suspect make the transaction and then he departed the scene. A few days later the victim noticed the Money Gram was returned and unpaid on his account.
Investigators advise that the Money Grams are actually in the amount of $1.00 or $4.00 but have been forged to appear as a $400.00 Money Gram. Investigators report that the suspect was occupying a light silver Nissan passenger vehicle, possibly a Maxima or Altima. No tag number was able to be obtained.
Jacksonville Police have been in contact with the Boaz Police Department in reference to similar cases in their jurisdiction. Through photo comparisons with the Boaz Police Department, it is possible that the same suspect may be using the same scam in Boaz and multiple other jurisdictions.

On August 29, 2021 at approximately 12:48 a.m., Officers with the Jacksonville Police Department responded to an Alarm call at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 1527 Pelham Road S.
Upon arrival, Officers discovered damage to an exterior window. After receiving and reviewing video surveillance, it was discovered that an unknown male had gained entry into the bank and stayed inside for a couple of minutes. He left walking north away from the bank.
The male subject was seen at a local gas station approximately 3 hours later, wearing the same clothing. This subject is now wanted for questioning and could possibly be charged with Criminal Mischief and Burglary. Jacksonville Investigators are requesting that he contact them immediately in reference to this incident.

On the morning of Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 1:50 a.m., an unknown subject described as a white male wearing camouflage pants, a black Nike Swoosh t-shirt and a camouflage hat, broke into Capitol Heights Middle School located at 116 Federal Drive.
Once inside the subject entered multiple classrooms and stole a school laptop. The subject is believed to be a white male with noticeable tattoos on both arms and the front and back of his neck. It is unknown if the suspect was occupying a vehicle during the burglary.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Theft of a Credit Card and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.
Montgomery County Investigators released photos of a female subject that was seen on August 15, 2021 at a fuel station in the 3600 block of Wetumpka Highway. Investigators advise the unknown female obtained the victim’s lost debit card and made a fraudulent purchase at the same location. The female left the location in a dark gray or similar colored Nissan Altima.
Within a two-hour time frame, her vehicle is seen on video at a restaurant in the 5000 block of Carmichael Road where an unknown male got out of the same vehicle (as a passenger) and gets a to go order that was also paid for with the victim’s credit card.

Opelika Catalytic Converter Thefts

On 08/16/2021 the Opelika Police Department began investigating a report of multiple thefts at CT Collision, located at 3300 Pepperell Parkway. Employees reported that approximately 20 catalytic converters and other miscellaneous items had been stolen off of vehicles in their impound lot.
A huge increase in thefts of catalytic converters has hit the State of Alabama and the nation. Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has reported on this crime numerous times in recent months. In what likely takes about two minutes, these thieves saw off the device leaving about an 18-inch hole between the engine and muffler where the catalytic converter in normally installed. Converter thieves normally leave a $2,000 replacement cost for the owner.

The Talladega Police Department has officially notified CrimeStoppers of the arrest of wanted fugitive Brandon Matthews.
On 8/19/2021, the Talladega Police Department received an anonymous tip, through Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, that led Police to the location of wanted fugitive John Brandon Matthews. Officers went to the address provided by the tipster and found Mr. Matthews sitting in a car behind a residence in the 300 block of Coffee Street in Talladega, AL. He was taken into custody on an active warrant for Theft of Property 3rd degree. Mr. Matthews also had multiple warrants against him from other Law Enforcement Agencies.
Brandon Matthews was wanted for Theft By Deception that occurred on 04/08/2021 at a local jewelry store in Talladega, AL.

Opelika Police Identifies 1 Out of 3 Burglary Suspects

On 08/17/2021 the Opelika Police Department began investigating two burglaries which occurred at Sunco Service Station, located at 300 Columbus Parkway, and Marathon Gas Station, located at 1001 Columbus Parkway. Upon investigation, three suspects are seen on camera forcing entry into the business.
On 08/19/2021 Opelika Detectives arrested Michael Devonn Kelly, 18 yoa from Columbus, GA, on two counts of Burglary, Third Degree, and Theft of Property, Fourth Degree.
Kelly’s two accomplices have not been identified. The first suspect can be seen wearing a black hoodie, face mask, maroon sweatpants and black shoes. The second suspect is wearing a black hoodie, black pants and red and black sneakers.

On 08/16/2021 at approximately 9:00 PM the Opelika Police Department responded to a Robbery in the 1600 Block of S. Fox Run Parkway.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim who stated that he was taking trash to the dumpster when he was approached by an unknown black male, approximately 5-foot-6, wearing dark pants, a dark hoodie and a face mask. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim while demanding the whereabouts of his car keys and wallet. The victim was then ordered to get face down on the ground while the suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle, a black 2019 Volkswagen Jetta with Alabama tag 43KP971.
The vehicle has not been recovered.

The Opelika Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Deandrian Marquel Martin. Martin was identified as a suspect in numerous vehicle break-ins that occurred over the summer in residential areas of Opelika. Martin is described as a black male, 28 years of age, 5’5’ in height, and weighing approximately 145 lbs.
The Opelika Police Department has obtained 18 warrants on Martin and more charges for additional vehicle break-ins may be forthcoming.

The Talladega Police Department is asking for the public’s help to solve a Murder!
On the August 1, 2021 at approximately 4:15 pm, the Talladega Police Department responded to Tinney Street in Talladega, Alabama in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival Officers found an unresponsive male lying in the front yard of a home. The male was identified as 17-year-old D'Marian Miller of Talladega, AL. Medical units arrived on scene and pronounced Miller deceased. Miller had multiple gunshot wounds.
Witness statements advised that a vehicle drove by and three male subjects began shooting from the vehicle. The vehicle then fled the scene. Talladega Investigators said roughly 51 shell casings were recovered from the scene.
