Assault 1st Degree
Montgomery Police Criminal Investigations
(334) 625-2831
The Montgomery Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in reference to an assault investigation that occurred on Friday, July 28, 2023.
On Friday, July 28, 2023, at about 4:35 p.m., MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 5200 block of Vaughn Road in reference to a subject shot. Contact was made with an adult male victim who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. It was determined that the offense occurred in the roadway. There is no additional information available for release in connection to this continuing investigation.
On August 1, 2023, the owner of the Stivers Ford Dealership in Montgomery, AL, Eddie Stivers, announced a reward of $10,000.00 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person involved in the assault of the victim. Mr. Stivers advised that the victim is a close member of the Stivers Ford Family and wanted to do something on his behalf.
“Not a lot of information has been released from the police department except that the shooting incident occurred in the roadway. If this is a case of road rage, this individual needs to be taken off the streets immediately. For a person to shoot at another because of a traffic misunderstanding is not acceptable in today’s society. If this is not the case and you are the person involved, come forward and tell your side of the story,” said CrimeStoppers Executive Director Tony Garrett.
Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering a $2,500.00 reward to be paid within 30 days for any information leading to the arrest of the person involved in the Assault 1st case. A $10,000.00 reward is being offered through Stivers Ford Dealership to be paid for the arrest and conviction of the person involved. A total of $12,500.00 in rewards is being offered.
"When police limit the amount of information that is released to the public, that sometimes signifies that investigators are following good leads and will release more information once those leads have been exhausted. This also can mean that they are waiting on other information to be discovered. Vaughn Road is highly travelled, and this occurred 2 blocks away from the Eastern Boulevard. I believe a lot of people witnessed this incident and might be holding on to photos, video, or their recollection of what occurred. Sometimes people don’t report because they think someone else has already reported. The responsibility is yours. If you saw something, say something,” said Garrett.
If you have any information regarding this crime, please immediately call the Police or CrimeStoppers using our 24-hour tip line at 334-215-STOP (7867) or 1-833-AL1-STOP (251-7867) or download our P3-tips app. Make sure you receive a Tip ID and Password in order to dialog with Investigators in case there is a follow-up question.
