The Phenix City Police Department is investigating a homicide and seeks the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

 

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at about 2:45 p.m., police responded to the 2700 block of 6th Street, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, police located, an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as, Daeqwon Mackey, 22, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

 

Investigators say the shooting appears to be an apparent drive-by shooting and say a silver Hyundai Sonata was seen in the area at the time of the incident.

 

The circumstances surrounding this ongoing homicide are under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.

Investigators are requesting information regarding this homicide investigation and are asking anyone that may have information to please come forward.

The Opelika Police Department is investigating a fraudulent use of a debit card case and seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

 

Opelika Police Investigators released a photo of two unknown subjects wanted for fraudulent use of a debit card. The offense occurred, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Walmart, 2900 Pepperell Parkway, Opelika, Alabama. Investigators say the pictured suspects, two adult males, used a stolen debit card to purchase an iPhone 11.

Investigators say surveillance video shows the suspects, described as two black males completing the transaction with a stolen debit card. The first suspect is seen on surveillance video wearing a white tank top, grey sweatpants, and black and white Jordan shoes. The second suspect is seen wearing khaki pants, a black jacket, and dark-colored crocs with black socks. The suspects were seen leaving the scene in a grey in color, Dodge, Charger, with parts of the bumper painted blue. The vehicle left in an unknown direction of travel. There are no other details available for release at this time.

The suspects are wanted for fraudulent use of a debit card, a class C felony.

The offense occurred, on December 24, 2022, at Books-A-Million, 2243 Tiger Town Parkway, Opelika, Alabama. Investigators say the pictured suspect, a male, entered the business at about 11:17 a.m. and attempted to purchase merchandise with a counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bill. The suspect left the scene a short time later in an unknown direction. There is no other information available for release at this time.
 
Investigators say surveillance video shows the suspect, described as a black male, appeared to be wearing black pants with a white stripe, a dark letterman-style jacket with white sleeves and an “S” on the front, and a large logo on the back of the jacket.

Opelika Police Investigators released a photo of two unknown subjects wanted for a vehicle burglary that occurred on Friday, February 10, 2023, in the Planet Fitness parking lot located at 2500 Pepperell Parkway, Opelika, AL. Investigators say the pictured suspects, broke into a vehicle and stole a wallet containing multiple credit and debit cards. The cards were used at multiple Walmart stores shortly after the vehicle burglary and theft occurred.

Investigators say video surveillance shows the suspect using the stolen credit and debit cards at several Walmart locations. The first suspect was identified as a tall light skinned black male with several very distinctive tattoos. The second suspect, identified as a black female, can be seen wearing a black hat and appears to have a small faint crown tattoo on her left temple.

The suspects are wanted for unlawful breaking and entering into a vehicle and an ongoing theft of property investigation.
