The Tallassee Police Department originally contacted Central Alabama CrimeStoppers and requested public assistance on Friday, September 22, 2023, with locating fugitive, Robdarius Ronkevious Smith, 31, of Tuskegee.
Smith was wanted for the September 20, 2023, fatal shooting that occurred in the 100 block of Washington Street in Tallassee, AL.
Investigators thank the media and the public for rapidly spreading public awareness regarding Smith’s whereabouts. Thanks to this tremendous amount of public awareness, Smith was made well aware that he was wanted by law enforcement. Smith turned himself over to law enforcement in Butler County shortly after CrimeStoppers original press release.
Smith’s apprehension marks the 17th fugitive wanted for a murder that was located after being featured by Central Alabama CrimeStoppers this year.

The Covington County Sheriff’s Office has located fugitive, Brandon Brewster, 26.
The Covington County Sheriff’s Office requested public assistance on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, and was searching for the whereabouts of fugitive, Brandon Brewster, 26. Brewster was wanted for multiple outstanding felony charges and outstanding warrants from three law enforcement agencies.
Investigators say Brewster was arrested on Wednesday evening, September 21, 2023, in New Brockton, AL.
Central Alabama CrimeStoppers would like to recognize the outstanding work of law enforcement with the apprehension of Brewster. Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Coffee County Sheriff's Office Geneva County Sheriff's Office along with the Alabama Department of Corrections assisted with the arrest. Investigators say Brewster made previous threats to harm himself and was originally considered a danger to himself and possibly others. On Sunday, September 17, the Alabama Department of Corrections notified CrimeStoppers of the recapture of escaped inmate Christopher Ivy Bates. Bates turned himself in on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at approximately 2:00 pm at the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office located at 450 St. Emanuel Street in Mobile, AL. No other details were released.

On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, the Alabama Department of Corrections requested assistance in locating Christopher Ivy Bates. Bates is described as a black male, age 34, 5’04” in height, weighing approximately 144 lbs. Bates has multiple tattoos. Bates is wanted for Escape.
Bates was serving a 20-year prison sentence for robbery at the Loxley Detention Facility. Bates escaped from the Gulf Shores Sports Plex in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where he was currently assigned. Bates was wearing his ADOC uniform, but investigators believe he changed his clothes upon escape. Investigators say Bates escaped Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at about 1:00 a.m.

Montgomery Police Investigators requested public assistance from CrimeStoppers to help locate Williams. A lookout and photo were released to the media and the public on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Williams was originally wanted for nine domestic violence-related warrants.
Montgomery investigators were actively seeking the whereabouts of Williams and would like to thank the public and media for helping share the original lookout. Due to the widespread awareness of this fugitive with nine domestic violence-related warrants, the suspect was quickly taken into custody. Williams was aware of the public awareness regarding his whereabouts and quickly turned himself over to law enforcement. Williams was placed into custody and charged with nine outstanding warrants.
Montgomery Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit acted swiftly to ensure Williams was located in a timely and prompt manner. These investigators went above and beyond to ensure a wanted fugitive was taken off the streets.

The Alabama Department of Corrections has officially notified CrimeStoppers of the capture of escaped inmate Pershon O’Neal Pettway.
On September 6, 2023 at around 3:00 pm, the Alabama Department of Corrections Law Enforcement Services Division was made aware of Pershon Pettway driving a stolen vehicle in Troy, AL. Members of the Troy Police Department initiated a traffic stop but Pettway drove off and a short vehicle pursuit was started. Pettway abandoned the stolen vehicle during the pursuit and ran in the woods. He was eventually captured at the intersection of Ray Avenue and Franklin Drive in Troy, AL. Pershon Pettway was taken into custody and is being transported to the Talladega County Jail. Additional criminal charges may be pending. No other details were released at this time. Pershon O’Neal Pettway was serving a 2-year prison sentence for Receiving Stolen Property at the Childersburg Community Based Facility and Community Work Center located at 13501 Plant Road, Alpine, AL 35014. On September 5, 2023, at approximately 3:32 AM an institutional bed roster was conducted of the facility. At approximately 4:20 AM the count did not clear. Barnett was originally wanted for multiple outstanding felony drug charges and a gun charge. Court documents indicated that Barnett was unlawfully in possession of a firearm after being convicted of felony and criminal charges that would prevent him from possessing a firearm.

Investigators requested public assistance locating Decatur on July 20, 2023. Decatur was wanted for Violation of the Community Notification Act by the Montgomery Police Department. Investigators say Decatur is a registered sex offender and official court documents indicate he has been convicted of three sexual-related offenses.
The United States Marshals assisted with the apprehension of Decatur. Investigators credit an anonymous tip received through CrimeStoppers that led to the exact whereabouts of Decatur. Investigators say the tipster’s information was crucial in the investigation and ultimately led to the apprehension of Decatur.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Montgomery Patrol Units and medics responded to the 1700 block of Upper Wetumpka Road in reference to a subject shot. Upon arrival, the victim, black male, Carlos Jones, 39 YOA, of Montgomery was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
