CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a male who is wanted for Assault in the Second Degree.

 

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at approximately 11:10 a.m., the elderly victim was shopping inside of a retail establishment on Keeaumoku Street when he was assaulted by an unknown male. The male then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

 

Suspect: Unknown male

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department would like to inform the public about auto theft cases where vehicles are being stolen with the use of spare keys.

 

Auto theft detectives are seeing cases where thieves are stealing vehicles because the spare keys are being left in the vehicle or hidden in a lock box or fender well. Once thieves break into the vehicle, they are able to find the spare key and are able to drive away with the vehicle. Thieves are also able to steal the vehicle because keys are being left inside the vehicle when the driver leaves their vehicle momentarily at a store or gas station. The following are some safety tips to prevent auto thefts.

 

Turn off the engine and lock your vehicle even when parked in your driveway for a few minutes. It only takes seconds for a car to be stolen.

 

Carry your car key in a waterproof pouch or pocket when at the beach.

 

Do not leave or hide keys in your vehicle or lock boxes.  Thieves know where the hiding places are.

 

Park in a busy, well-lit area whenever possible.

 

Do not leave important documents, including the vehicle title, in your car. A thief can use it to transfer ownership.

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are asking for the public’s
assistance in identifying a male who is wanted for Attempted Sexual Assault in
the First Degree.

On Monday, June 3, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the victim was walking
alone on Diamond Head Beach heading towards Kahala when she observed an
unknown male following her closely. The male grabbed her from behind and threw her onto the ground and attempted to sexually assault her and attempted to steal her fanny pack. The male then fled on the beach towards Waikiki.

 

Suspect: Unknown Polynesian male
Age: 20’s

Height: 5’8”

Weight: 140 to 150 lbs.

Hair: Black curly, medium-length

Eyes: Dark

Complexion: Brown

Build: Thin muscular build

Clothing: No shirt, blue and gray mid-length board shorts, small geometric patterns, gray glasses with translucent or no lenses.

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department want to warn the public about a phone scam that is occurring.

 

There have been recent cases where the complainants have received a phone call from a male who stated that their name was Captain Cortez or Lieutenant Cortez with the Honolulu Police Department and that the complainant was wanted for a warrant. They were then instructed to pay a monetary fine. The complainants became suspicious and called back the number on the caller ID. Upon calling the number, the call was connected to the police station, where it was discovered that the phone number had been spoofed, and no such call was made from HPD.

 

Law enforcement agencies, including the Honolulu Police Department, will never contact the public and request for payments to be made. Do not make any payments upon receiving such requests.

There is an app that allows phone spoofing. It conceals the number of the phone being used and uses another phone number to appear in your caller ID.

 

It can appear to be a Federal Government Agency or your local police department. This can also be used to imitate utility companies, Hawaiian Electric Company or Board of Water Supply, in order to collect false debts.

 

Do not discuss vital information with anyone who calls. Hang up, check your telephone book for the proper number of the agency identified in the call.

 

Please contact police if you receive these types of calls.

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a male who is wanted for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.

 

On Thursday, March 14, 2024, at approximately 6:15 a.m., the victim, who was driving a black sports utility vehicle, pulled into the parking lot of a shopping center located at 89-102 Farrington Highway. A male driving a white BMW 3-Series sedan blocked his path, approached the victim from the driver's side window, and shot him once in the chest. The victim was able to drive away but later crashed his vehicle a short distance away. The male suspect fled the area in the white BMW in an unknown direction. The victim was later transported to the hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound.

Clothing: Camouflage jacket and light-colored pants.

Suspect Vehicle: white BMW 3 Series sedan, four-door, unknown license plate.

 

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect wanted for Cruelty to Animal in the Second Degree.

 

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a white cat was found deceased in the Koko Head District Park. The cat had obvious signs of trauma. Upon conducting an examination of the cat, it was discovered that there were multiple pellets lodged in its' head. In addition to the CrimeStoppers reward, a private donor is willing to pay an additional $5,000 cash for information leading to an arrest.
